In their practice, Michelle ‘Misha’ Oraa Ali combines ceramics with glass and physical computing to create sculptural objects and functional art - ranging from illustrated vessels to species-specific coral forms. They situate their art as a commentary on, critique of and homage to scientific progress, and the cultures, peoples, and technologies it creates, perpetuates and destroys.
Misha studied Neuroscience and Behavior and Graphic Narrative and Visual Storytelling at Mount Holyoke College. They then worked in psycholinguistics research and obtained a Master of Science degree in Cognitive Science from Brown University. This fall, they are starting their MFA at Cranbrook Academy of Art.
